Information for anglers, Whitlingham Country Park...
At this moment in time, Whitlingham Charitable Trust does not permit members of the general public to fish Whitlingham Broads. The fishing rights are leased to Norwich and District Pike Club. The Park itself borders the rivers Tas, Yare and Wensum. Fishing is permitted on these rivers providing the angler holds a valid licence and abides by fishing season restrictions. National rod licences are administered by the Environment Agency. Further information on fisheries regulations and licensing can be found on the Government’s website. Navigation byelaws apply on the River Yare (N.B. paragraph 29, lines must not obstruct the passage of passing craft).
For ease of access to the banks of the River Yare, anglers are advised to leave their vehicles at the east end of the Park beside Whitlingham Wood and the ‘play wherry’. Annual parking permits can be purchased which are valid across all of the Park’s car parking areas.
For information regarding fishing in the Broads, visit Enjoy the Broads and you will find a pdf of ‘Broads Angle’- the latest guide (2013 edition).
The Park is open all year round. The Broads Authority Visitor Centre is open seven days a week from 11am to 4pm from November until Easter and 10am to 4pm the rest of the year, extending to 5pm during local school summer holidays. The Barn Cafe is open from 10am to 4pm in winter and 9am to 5pm in the summer months.
